Known as the ‘woman who made science beautiful ‘ and one of the greatest ever botanical artists, Maria Sibylla Merian was the first European naturalist to undertake an expedition into the New World to depict Tropical species in their natural habitat. This collection is based on her travels to the rain forests of Suriname in South America, from 1701 – 1705.
